RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
D. Knox Bemis focuses primarily on litigation and international arbitration. Knox has broad experience in litigation in the U.S. courts, including the Federal District Courts, the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court. His practice primarily involves Federal Court litigation and disputes with international aspects. He has successfully defended foreign states, state agencies and state-owned corporations in actions brought against them under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. He has also represented foreign states and private entities before international arbitration tribunals, and has himself served on arbitration panels in ICC and other arbitration proceedings.
Knox began his career as a Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice. He was a partner in Pierson Semmes and Bemis and its predecessor firms from 1970 until 2000. Mr. Bemis comes to Picard Kentz & Rowe from Dewey & LeBoeuf. Knox is admitted to practice before the Courts of the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and other circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
