- International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution
- Representation of African government in negotiation of comprehensive peace treaty with neighboring state to conclude two-year armed conflict;
- Representation of sovereign states in international arbitrations of boundary disputes;
- Representation of sovereign state in international claims tribunal in The Hague, established to consider claims for loss, damage, and injury resulting from armed conflict, including mass claims. Successfully argued claim regarding the unlawful use of force, resulting in liability award that held opposing state in violation of the UN Charter for initiating armed conflict and liable to render compensation for the resulting loss, damage, and injury;
- Representation of sovereign states and autonomous regional government before the US, UN and other governments and international organizations, including matters related to foreign relations and international peacekeeping; and
- Representation of foreign government before US government with respect to Bilateral Investment Treaty negotiations and other trade matters, as well as foreign relations and international security and peacekeeping matters
- Representation of private and state-owned companies in negotiating and arbitrating commercial and investment disputes before international arbitral tribunals. Recent ICC arbitration of Fortune 100 multi-national company resulted in dismissal of virtually all claims and directed claimant to pay all of company’s legal fees;

- Representation of US and international clients on the structuring, financing and operation of joint ventures and the development of energy infrastructure projects, including projects in the Caspian Sea, Africa, Central Asia, CIS and Middle East countries;
- Representation of private companies with respect to US regulation of international trade, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and US export controls and sanction regimes;
- Defense of private companies in US government audits, voluntary disclosures, and enforcement actions, including civil and criminal investigations in the computer and chemical industries; and
- Representation of clients seeking governmental approval for exports of highly regulated technology and products to sensitive areas such as the Republics of the Former Soviet Union, the Middle East and China. This includes developing compliance programs and procedures, and negotiating on behalf of clients before US and international government agencies.
